Between the "commercial shelf” and open source - the case of company X

This was a series of mistakes. Company X, which was gaining an ever higher position in the insurance industry, had long needed a thorough modernisation of its IT service. It was looking for a trustworthy, effective system which would streamline the work of the team and be customer-friendly.

Encouraged by the possibility to considerably lower the costs, the management board of company X decided to use the services of a domestic IT company, which, after a time-consuming analysis, introduced modern open-source software which suited X's requirements. However, very soon it turned out that due to X’s dynamic development the new system needed further adjustments. Yet the programming company washed its hands, and IT specialists employed by the insurer could not cope with the maintenance of the new service. In such a situation, the difficult decision to restructure the system again was taken.

This time, a proven commercial product of the world giant was taken. The purchase constituted a substantial amount in X’s budget but the giant guaranteed long-term technical support. Theoretically, there should be no such need, as the server was advertised as “trouble-free”. The practice proved the contrary. The ready-made product did not suit the individual nature of X's development process in every detail, and the subsequent system updates and the related license purchases made the costs soar.

The missing element on the path of X’s search was TouK. Thanks to many years of experience in analysing products and services available on the IT market, TouK is able to perfectly balance the proportions between open-source software and proprietary software. While delivering systems based on open-source software, TouK looks after it like for its own products. It ensures constant technical support and immediate intervention of the Service Desk department in case difficulties are encountered in using the system.

The pace at which our systems are introduced equals the dynamics of introducing ready-made applications, and the extent to which they are adapted to the requirements of a given enterprise leaves other products of the competition far behind. Our customers may be sure that by deciding to cooperate with TouK they have done everything to make the best IT technologies work for the success of their company.
