ITPW 2009 – the winners rewarded

The first place in this year’s Internet‑based Competition for Fighting Programmes (Internetowy Turniej Programów Walczących) was won by Grzegorz Anielak, a University of Warsaw student. Grzegorz went home with iPhone 3G in his hand. The prize was sponsored by TouK.

The ITPW has been organised by the IT Student Association (Koło Naukowe Informatyków UW) for eight years. This year, the competition involved writing a shrewd programme for playing the well‑liked card game called “Planning”.

The victorious programme was written in C++ and was better that 123 other programmes entered into the tournament. C++ definitely prevailed over other programming languages, although Java programmes also strongly represented. Other languages appeared only occasionally.

The winners were rewarded on 21st November, during the closing ceremony. The full list of winners is available on the ITPW website.
